Some days {and weeks} are harder than others. When projects and plans come to a stand still, it's easy to lose motivation and sense of direction. I worry that I'm not doing anything right or perhaps that I will never achieve the goal I set out to meet, simply because it's unattainable. As someone who constantly strives to learn more, become a better person and stretch myself to the limit with days packed with activities, events and budding aspirations, it can become tiring. I thought I'd share a few inspirational quotes from women to end the week. Just because, sometimes we all need a little reminder that good things will come in time.

I learned early on that I had to become strong in order to do what I wanted. Every woman needs a strong personality. It’s much more valuable than beauty. - Jil Sander

"I didn't really know what I wanted to do. But I knew the woman I wanted to become." -
Diane von Furstenberg

"I never dreamed about success, I worked for it." - Estee Lauder

Have a great weekend!

It's here! J.Crew is offering 25% off on all purchases of $150 or more now through Sunday, September 30. I just can't resist a sale. In fact, I rarely purchase items full-price, unless I'm truly in love with it. With fall here, now is the perfect time to invest in classic pieces and accessories that can also be worn for several seasons to come.

Here is my J.Crew sale wish list.
Happy shopping!

Last weekend was the perfect kickoff to fall, from the cool weather to the festive events at the 81st Annual Country Club Plaza Art Fair. I attended with a few local bloggers at the Time Warner Cable VIP tent.
We had an ideal set-up at the Time Warner VIP tent, with complimentary wine, appetizers and desserts from Seasons 52, informational guides from the Time Warner crew and a chic lounge to enjoy the busy, busy, busy event. With thousands of people browsing art and strolling the streets, Time Warner Cable offered free WiFi all weekend and ran a "Tweet-and-go-Seek" contest for a chance to win prizes. Although I didn't win, we all got to take home a set of Seasons 52 wine glasses and other gifts from Time Warner Cable.

As always, the best part is getting to meet and spend time with inspiring bloggers with similar goals and interests. I ran into Lisa and Erin beforehand, chatted with Michelle, Megan and Emily on all things blogging and business, and visited with Sarah, Jamie and Ellen. Plus, I met new-to-the-group bloggers, Sarah and Melina. Overall, it was the perfect way to enjoy the art fair.

Fall is here, finally
polka dots fall

In celebration of the new season, I plan to re-organize my closet and whip out my favorite fall pieces. I love that the change in weather gives a chance to create a fresh look and I plan to add a few new pieces to my wardrobe that incorporate one ot the biggest trends this season: polka dots. How will you celebrate the first day of fall today?

Loafers -  {Similar} // Utility Vest - {Similiar}  // Cable Knit Sweater - J.Crew // Blythe Blouse - J.Crew //  Black Denim - Diesel // Polka Dot Wallet - Kate Spade // Dotted Pumps - Madewell // Studs - Kate Spade

It's here! One of my favorite events in Kansas City is the annual Plaza Art Fair. This weekend, I plan on taking in the hustle-and-bustle of the event to browse art, snack on delicious treats and stop by my favorite shops. Perhaps I'll even find a new art piece for my soon-to-be home?

Tonight, I will be testing out new technology and taking in the scenery at the 81st Annual Plaza Art Fair - Time Warner Cable VIP tent. Visit my Twitter and Instagram for live photos and updates!

This week marks the start of a new season, and my favorite one at that. From cooler weather to  changing colors in the scenery, I love fall for so many reasons. After a busy, busy summer of non-stop events, I'm ready to slow down and to take time to enjoy the little things.

I've decided to make a fall to-do list of things I'd like to accomplish this season:

1. Find the perfect house to build our dream home
2. Make a trip to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard
3. Take time for an evening outdoor walk, at least once a week
4. Spend more time in the kitchen crafting heathy meals & the occasional sweet confection
5. Start (and finish) at least one of the D.I.Y projects I've been meaning to complete
6. Learn how to make a pumpkin spice lattee that will put Starbucks to shame
7. Build a fall wardrobe filled with cozy knits, warm hues and lots of leather
8. Play around with my beauty routine in deep red, purple and grey's
9. Plan a dinner party (or two) for a group of close friends
10. Allow myself time to finally relax

What is on your to-do list this fall?

This weekend, I had the opportunity to visit the chic new Parlor: A Beauty Bar and get to know the staff, all while enjoying a blow out and makeup. Parlor officially opens on the Kansas City Country Club Plaza today and I couldn't be more ready for another styling session.

First off, I didn't take a full shot of the beauty bar, which means you will have to visit it for yourself. Gold chevron walls, all white furniture and sleek decor make up Parlor. When you walk in, you'll likely be greeted by the bubbly owner, Meg. I arrived early on Saturday morning, with a vanilla latte in hand and with my equally beauty-obsessed best friend (see my not-so-pretty "before" photo below.) After an introduction to the beauty products available, including hair care, styling and makeup, I was sent to stylist Kim for my consultation.

I couldn't decide between the "Beach Wave," which is my go-to hairstyle already and the "Lush." My stylist Kim told me I could combine the two, which I gladly did! After a shampoo, she got to work on curling, smoothing and adding volume to my otherwise flat hair. My friend went with a completely opposite look, "The Stick" which was a super sleek and straight style.

And voila!

I couldn't ask for a more friendly staff, chic atmosphere and unique styling experience. I plan on making Parlor a frequent stop for pre-event styling or for those days when you just need a blow out.

I'm still in awe over the Tory Burch Ready-to-Wear 2013 collection. Coined as an "American prep remix" for spring, each look is inspired by the textures, bright colors and fabrics seen by a stylish magpie world traveler. I could look at this collection every day and not get tired of it. An effortless fishtail braid, mini crossbody bag, layers of beaded jewels and au naturale makeup topped off each look.

Here are my favorite details from the collection:

Which look would you wear?

Today, Everyday Chic is featured on KC Blogger Meet Up. Whether you are from the Kansas City area or not, KC Blogger Meet Up is a great source for finding inspiring blogs of all shapes and sizes that range from lifestyle to beauty. I'm so happy to be a part of a group that supports bloggers and hosts fun events!

As expected, the J.Crew RTW Spring 2013 preview did not dissapoint. The collection plays on the structured seperates often seen from the brand, but with a fun twist of  'happy' hues and brocade textures in shades of blush pink, azure blue and lime green. I've always loved the punchy prep looks showcased and this collection was equally chic and perfectly styled. But, I'm a firm believer that Jenna Lyons can do no wrong. Sleek hair, plastic frames and pointed pumps topped off each look.

What is your favorite look from the collection?

Without a doubt, my favorite part of being involved with Kansas City Fashion Week was having an excuse to hang out with a few of my favorite fashion + beauty bloggers.

It's refreshing to spend time with a group of talented women that appreciate juggling a career, blog, social media and can have a bit of fun. Cheers, to that! I worked with Megan, Jess, Kimberly, and Erin on Wednesday for the Kansas City Fashion Week Boutique Show, as they styled looks for the event. On Friday, I met up with Sandy, Shea, Sam, Jess, Megan, Erin, and Kimberly for champagne before the first Designer Showcase. And after producing the show for House of Cochon on Saturday, I spent time watching the shows with the girls.

No, I did not fall off the face of the earth. Yes, I haven't had time to post since August.
And the only thing I can blame is: fashion week

(1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Although I did not make it to New York City this year for the shows, I was caught up in my own week of fashion events and runway shows in Kansas City. If you aren't from Kansas City, you likely didn't know that we also host {a smaller} version of fashion week with local and national emerging designers, boutiques and students. As the second year, I was involved as the direcor of a national retailer's runway show during the event, the backstage PR lady for local designer, House of Cochon, and attended events as a blogger. On top of it all, I fit in a full work week, meetings, evening events, and made room for the lovely and sweet Samantha of The Brunette One, as she crashed at my place to also cover Kansas City Fashion Week. Let's just say: last week was busy, busy, busy.

As for NYFW, I've been following the livestreams of the shows, skimming tweets, Instagrams, Tumblr's and every other form of sharing this week. Next year, my goal is to squeeze in a bit of time to attend, at least a few shows.

So, expect a few upcoming posts this week with more on my personal coverage of fashion week with a mix of my favorite shows from Kansas City to New York City.
