This year, I'm opting out of the lavish parties & events for a small gathering at my new house with close friends. Since we are still in the re-modeling phase, I've decided to keep things simple when it comes to decorations. I'm planning to make a few of my favorite appetizers, pick up lots of champagne + french macarons and organize a few party games. Here is my inspiration for a stylish, yet low-key celebration this New Year's Eve:

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas and happy holiday! I'm just now getting home after nearly two weeks of celebrations and travels to visit family and loved ones. I'll get back in the swing starting in 2013. In the meantime, here is the very budget-friendly outfit I ended up wearing this holiday. Did you dress up this year?

See you in 2013!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

With Christmas in a matter of days, I'm excited for a week spent with family and loved ones. I'm packing up for a weekend getaway with the boy, but wanted to share a few things that remind me of my favorite holiday traditions. From waiting at the top of the stairs in my pj's with my siblings on Christmas Day to enjoying hot peppermint cocoa as we sit around the tree, the best part of the holiday are most definitely the memories made.

J.Crew Pajama Set  // Faux Fur Throw {perfect to cozy up with!} // NEST "Holiday" Candle {the ideal holiday scent!} // Holiday Cookies // Vintage Ornaments // Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment {for a hint of shine!} // Kate Spade Earrings {a touch of sparkle!} // UGG Slippers // Peppermint Hot Cocoa  {my favorite holiday treat!} // Kate Spade Coffee Mug // Essie Polish // Emi-Jay Pearl Hair Ties //

The holiday is around the corner and I've been scrambling to plan out my outfits for all of the upcoming family dinners, gatherings with friends and other special occassions. With a new house to decorate + furnish, I'm on a tight budget when it comes to my wardrobe lately {sigh.} So, this year I'm planning to pull pieces already hanging in my closet to create versatile and festive looks. Plus, I might pick up a new bauble or two! Here is my inspiration for key pieces that can be mixed & matched for a variety of looks:

Have you heard?

Emerald green is officially the color of 2013. Pantone Color Trends made the announcement yesterday - just in time for the end-of-the-world today. Just kidding, I definitely do NOT believe in that stuff. On a serious note, I am trurly excited about this color. More so even than I was for 2012's Tangerine Tango {as pretty as it is, I just couldn't pull it off.} Emerald green is a universally stunning shade. It's rich and luxe. And acording to Pantone, it brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation. Plus, it pairs so perfectly with a pop of red, bright pink, metallics, and even muted tones of navy and grey.

"Green is the most abundant hue in nature - the human eyes sees more green than any other color in the spectrum," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Will you be incorporating this shadeinto your home, wardrobe and even beauty routine {think bold nail polish!} in 2013?

Making the switch from retail to beauty PR has me focused on testing, researching and trying out a ton of new products...and I love it! Although fashion will always be my one true love, I can't help but admit I am loving my fling with all things beauty. I thought I'd share a few of my favorite winter beauty basics for everyday.
*All of these products have been purchased by myself and do not reflect my employer/clients!

1. Too Faced - Natural Eye: This eye color palette is just what I was looking for! I tend to stray from bold colors on my eyes, unless it's a special occassion. This natural eye kit has the right amount of soft + slightly sparkly shadows for everyday wear. At first I worried the hues would be heavy and glittery, but they go on perfectly and without looking cakey.

2. Tarte Cosmetics - Lip Lusters: Add just the right amount of moisture and smooth color for the winter. Sometimes, it can get boring to only wear lip conditioner and chapstick, these crayons add a soft pop of color and are not overpowering.

3. EcoTools Brush Kit - I've been a devote fan of EcoTools for awhile now. To refresh my collection, I picked up a new set of eye brushes the other day. I love that these are an eco-friendly product, plus they are very affordable!

4. Essie Polishes in ChinChilly and Wrapped in Rubies - I have a nail polish addiction - but really. I picked up these shades from Essie the other day and they have been on heavy rotation ever since. Chinchilly is the perfect neutral for the winter, not too light and with the righ amount of warm color. Wrapped in Rubies has a hint of metallic and shine, making it fun for holiday occassions.

Also in my makeup bag this winter are: a good BB Cream for light coverage and moisture, eye cream to help that sensitive skin, creamy hand lotions and sugar scrubs!

What are your winter beauty basics?

Oscar de la Renta had their pre-fall 2013 showcase today. The gorgeous gowns and bold accessories are always my favorite - and are easily the most elegant. For those of us not fortunate enough to sit amongst the top names in fashion, Oscar de la Renta offered a live video of the runway show here. I loved the details of sequins and brocade, polka dots and lace, and shades of canary yellow and petal pink - for an unexpected pop. Since the show just aired, I thought I would share a few of the collections details from behind-the-scenes.

With the holiday quickly approaching, I've been so wrapped up in other things that I haven't even considered what I'd like to receive this year. I was asked the other day to pull together a list of a few different gifts and realized I didn't have anything in particular in mind. Of course there are always things I'd like to see hanging in my closet, jewelry box or beauty drawer - but I've been so thankful for the intangible gifts I've received this year that I feel guilty asking for anything more. Honestly! So, here is a list - just for fun - of a few gifts that would be fun to see under the Christmas tree.
holiday wishlist

Stocking stuffers often are associated as being small gifts you don't necessary want - or candy {not that I ever mind receiving chocolates!} This year, think of stocking stuffers as cute little gifts that your loved one, friend or even co-worker would love to receive, but may not necessarily buy for themselves. I've rounded up a variety of stylish small gifts for this Holiday Gift Guide 2012 that would make the perfect stocking stuffer for anyone on your list:

December is here, which means invitations to holiday events and parties are on their way {if they haven't arrived already!} My secret place to find the perfect party dress just so happens to be a click away. Instead of enduring the holiday shoppers and crowded check-out lines, take a few minutes to find a stylish {and budget-friendly} frock from Piperlime. To make it even easier, I pulled together my favorite dresses for the season here:
