If you are lucky enough to be in warm weather right now, I'm so jealous. We are in the middle of a snow blizzard and are expected to receive almost 15 inches of snow. The only good part of the storm is having a chance to hang out with my guy and the puppy while I work on a few projects. With cold, dry winter weather in full swing, I've had to take extra care of my skin lately. I thought I'd share a few of my favorite products + tips to tackle the inclimate weather.
1. Skin & Face: Dry skin is my biggest challenge during the cold season. My face tends to peel and get extra flaky, which is never a good look. When the temperature starts to drop, I switch from my light moisturizer to something that is just a bit creamier. At the moment, I'm obsessed with Algenist Firming and Lifting Cream. Although I don't have any wrinkles or signs of anti-aging yet, it's never too soon to start using skin treatments to prevent! I just got a Clairisonic and have been using it 2-4 times a week. Although it's too soon to give a full review, I love the way it makes my skin look and feel. And for days when no amount of moisturizer can solve my skin problems, I use a dehumidying treatment.
2. Lips: Chapped lips are a common problem this time of year. So far, I've done a pretty good job of fighting it this season. I always keep an aresonal of lippies, balms and treatments in my handbags at all times to keep moisturized at a moments notice. On a regular day, I like to keep it simple with Eos Organic Lip Balm. For a hint of color, that doesn't feel dry or chalky I love Tarte Lip Surgence lip tints. They look like a crayon, go on smooth like a balm and give color like a lipstick!
3. Nails: I hate when my nails don't look their best. If I had to choose leaving the house with perfectly done makeup OR a manicure, my nails would always win. In the winter, I tend to stick to more neutral polishes in soft nude, grey and pink shades. Since nails can also be affected by the dry weather, I try to keep them in good condition by switching to polishes that contain less toxins. Deborah Lippmann is one of my favorite brands. Cuticle oil {love this one!} and hand lotion are another, easy and affordable way to keep hands soft and touchable in-between mani's.
